Rise Construction Framework is based in Liverpool and was founded in 2016, with the mission to drive social value through capital projects while positively impacting the communities they serve. They now operate a framework, including over 100 reputable supply partners across 17 groupings, covering various capital works and services.
Rise is the only pro-social construction framework in the UK, renowned for its commitment to social impact. They directly fund projects that support vulnerable and disadvantaged communities, working with a range of clients, including NHS Foundation Trusts, universities, local authorities, and housing associations. Their approach combines commercial efficiency with a strong focus on ethical practices and community benefits, such as investing in support workers for domestic violence and establishing one-stop coffee shops in deprived areas.
Rise sought to develop a real-time data analytics platform. This platform would identify specific trends within deprived regions, facilitating targeted interventions to improve the quality of life for those in such areas.
To achieve this, Rise identified seven indices of targeted deprivation: income deprivation, employment deprivation, education, skills and training deprivation, health deprivation and disability, crime, barriers to housing and services, and living environment deprivation.
Following the support of the Horizons team, Rise aims to develop a platform with advanced analytics capabilities, including modelling, trend analysis, and customisable dashboards capable of producing reports for stakeholders.
The Horizons team identified and appraised existing data sources, categorised and collected data to inform the seven indices of deprivation, and created a small-scale demonstrator using Power BI. This provided clear visual representations, enabling Rise to identify ‘hotspots’ and better focus their interventions.
Connecting Rise with organisations such as the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, local councils, and businesses has helped Rise gain insights and develop internal capabilities to analyse specific areas for more meaningful community interventions.
Additional networking and introductions were established with the University’s academics to explore potential research collaborations in the future. This also included connecting with marketing professionals who could guide promotional activities.
Finally, the team investigated mechanisms to de-risk digital innovation investment, identifying funded support and expertise from the LJMU knowledge base and providing Rise with the resources needed to innovate confidently.
The Horizons team aided Rise in acquiring reliable visual data representations and enhancing their internal data analysis capabilities, leading to more effective community interventions. Following initial successes, Rise is now prepared to expand data collection, improve analysis, develop customisable dashboards, and foster collaborations to increase the positive impact on the community.
Rise aims to strengthen its data-driven decision-making and targeted initiatives, utilising the real-time data analytics platform to effectively address deprivation across the North West and adapt key strategies to broaden data sources, create customisable dashboards for real-time reporting, and enhance partnerships with local authorities and businesses.
Rise also plans to boost engagement with stakeholders through digital media, emphasising the social and economic benefits of their projects to attract funding and partnerships. To ensure sustainability, they will seek additional funding and continue engaging with the LJMU knowledge base for further support.
